Beth Hart is a Los Angeles native and blues-singing singer from rock. She performed on the streets and began her career with Immortal in 1995. Her outspoken, raw performance, emotional and empathetic live performances attracted the attention of many. Chuck Taylor wrote that Hart was "the embodiment of natural females" in the October 2, 1999 issue of Billboard magazine. Hart is "bawdy humorous, amusing, friendly and wild with her choice to spiced words. That's not her real talent. She's a graceful, tall, elegant singer/songwriter who sings and dances with the vim and energy like Mick Jagger . Other times she's seated on the piano or at the center stage without any pretension. The legs of her are crossed across the sides of a chair, and she sings in a soft, aching voice. "Drawing emotions like this starting from the moment she took to the stage for amateur competitions when she was an teen, Hart nonetheless experienced misgivings about the business side of music as her career began to take off. Hart ended her performance after she failed to tour all over the world. Hart then spent nearly four years pondering and solving problems through music writing. When she was ready to give her professional career a second chance she returned in 1999 with the critically-acclaimed Screamin' for My Supper which showed Hart's songwriting talents grow with vulnerable, honest tunes about tackling life's problems.
