The inspiration for her music is drawn from her own personal journey as she has suffered from mental health problems and insomnia. Alessia Cara grew up in Toronto in Canada. She was born on July 11th, 1996 to parents with Italian heritage. She was given a guitar by her parents when she was 10, which ignited the passion for music. At the age of 13 she began covering her favorite songs via YouTube one of the biggest media platforms to prove to the world she had the talents and the determination to be a professional singer.
